Rules for Visitors

These Rules apply to all visitors to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War. Memorial complex (from now on referred to as the Museum), regardless of citizenship, gender, religion, age, or purpose of visiting the Museum.

During the period of martial law on the territory of Ukraine and the curfew in Kyiv, it is forbidden to be in the Museum from 12 AM to 5 AM.

For more information on the curfew in Kyiv, please visit the Kyiv City State Administration website at https://kyivcity.gov.ua/.

The Museum reserves the right to change its opening hours, notifying the visitors on its website and social media pages without specifying the reasons.

Tickets for exhibitions, events, and activities can be purchased at the Museum ticket office or online;

Free admission

The right to visit the Museum free of charge (except for the expositions of the Mi-24 helicopter and the Li-2, MiG-23 aircraft, ascents to the observation platforms of the Motherland Monument: “Pedestal” +36.6 m and “Shield” +91.0 m; excursion service) is granted to:

  • combatants;
  • people who have received the status of an affected participant of the Revolution of Dignity;
  • ATO/JFO participants;
  • military personnel of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine;
  • children of fallen Defenders of Ukraine;
  • cadets and students of military educational institutions of Ukraine;
  • orphaned children;
  • children deprived of parental care;
  • children of preschool age;
  • people with disabilities;
  • employees of Ukrainian museums and ICOM members;
  • internally displaced people.

Upon submission of documents (including originals or copies in the “Diia” app) proving eligibility under Ukrainian law.

Rules for filming on the territory of the War Museum
  • Photo and video filming on the Museum’s territory, any of the objects, or in its expositions, carried out within the framework of professional activities by media representatives, organizations, and individuals, must be agreed upon with the administration.
  • Filming that aims to preserve national historical memory and promote tourism is free.
  • Filming with a photo, video camera, UAV for commercial, advertising, or other purposes can be arranged through an agreement after the payment at the Museum’s ticket office or by bank transfer.
  • Filming using UAVs is allowed only during the Museum working hours.
  • Filming should not violate the principles of preserving the Museum space as a place of memory, nor should it have immoral content.
  • It is prohibited to interfere with the visual images of the Museum objects or to modify them in any way.
  • It is unacceptable to shoot content with a political, religious, anti-Ukrainian component or any other content that leads to societal controversy.
  • To approve the filming, send an official request letter to the Museum email info@warmuseum.kyiv.ua. Define the topic and purpose of the shooting, the desired location, date and time, your contact information and a list of equipment
Accessibility

We strive to make the Museum accessible to all visitors, allowing them to explore our exhibitions and appreciate our collection. We hope the information below will help you plan your trip to the Museum.

  • Ramps in the Museum Main Building and Exhibition Center are available for visitors with reduced mobility and wheelchairs.
  • Please let the Museum staff know if you need assistance; they will gladly help you.
  • If you need to borrow a wheelchair, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Museum staff
  • The borrowed wheelchair cannot be taken outside the Museum territory.
  • Visitors can use an elevator in the Museum Main Building. It moves between the first and second floors and is accessible for wheelchairs.
  • The Museum has inclusive restrooms and baby changing facilities in the Exhibition Center and the Main Building.

Free Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available to all visitors in the Main Building and Exhibition Center.

Cloakroom and Luggage Storage
  • The cloakroom and luggage storage are free of charge. The cloakroom is open from November to March.
  • The cloakroom is available in the Exhibition Center and the Main Building of the Museum.
  • The luggage storage is located in the Main Building of the Museum.
  • Please pick up your belongings 30 minutes before the Museum closes.
  • Please note that items weighing more than 8 kg and 40 x 40 x 50 cm (including suitcases on wheels) cannot be left in the cloakroom.
  • The cloakroom will be closed immediately in case of an air raid, fire evacuation or other unforeseen circumstances and you will be asked to follow our evacuation instructions. Our staff will assist you in retrieving your belongings from the cloakroom as soon as possible after the Museum reopens.
Entrance for the vehicles to the Museum territory
  • Entrance for the vehicles is only allowed on the premises of the Main Museum Building located at 27 Lavrska St.
  • Cars, minibuses, and buses can enter after making an advance payment.
  • Advance payment can be made at the Museum ticket office or online.
  • Keep your payment confirmation with you while you are on the Museum premises.
  • Staying on the territory of the Museum is possible only during its opening hours.
Security
  • For visitors’ safety, the Museum security may conduct a cursory inspection of the personal belongings, bags, backpacks, and packages before the entrance.
  • Video surveillance cameras are installed in the Museum premises for the convenience and safety of visitors and exhibits.
  • Please ensure your belongings are supervised during your visit. If you have lost your belongings while visiting the Museum, please send a request to our email info@warmuseum.kyiv.ua or call us at +38 (044) 285-94-57.
It is prohibited to:
  • Violate generally accepted rules and norms of public order and safety.
  • Create obstacles for the work of the Museum staff, inconvenience for other visitors, and danger to your own lives.
  • Create situations that could result in damage to the Museum exhibits, property, and valuable materials.
  • Leave children under 14 unattended.
  • Bring into the Museum any luggage items with dimensions exceeding 40 x 40 x 50 cm (except for baby strollers, folding strollers), leave them in the cloakroom or put them in lockers.
  • Leave personal belongings unattended.
  • Dogs on the Museum territory must be kept on a leash. Dogs of dangerous breeds must wear a muzzle and be on a short leash, no longer than 1.2m.
  • Train animals on the territory of the Museum.
  • Leave animals unattended.
  • Please note that animals are not allowed on the Museum premises unless they are guide dogs.
  • Litter on the territory and the premises of the Museum.
  • To be in a state of alcohol or drug intoxication on the territory of the Museum, to consume alcohol or drugs on the territory of the Museum.
  • Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes and vapes, is prohibited on the Museum’s premises.
  • Bring any piercing or cutting objects, weapons, explosives, or flammable or poisonous substances into the Museum territory or premises.
  • Enter the Museum buildings with any vehicle (roller skates, scooters, electric scooters, bicycles, etc.).
  • Disturb public order. In particular, it is necessary to observe the quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00.
  • Consume any alcoholic beverages on the Museum territory.
  • Consume food and alcoholic beverages in the Museum exhibition spaces.
  • Conduct unauthorized tours on the territory and premises of the Museum.
  • Conduct film, TV, or photoshoots for commercial purposes without the permission of the administration. It is allowed to conduct non-commercial video and photoshoots on the territory and premises of the Museum, but without using flash in the exhibition halls.
  • Hold mass events that the Museum administration has not approved. The intention to hold an event on the premises or the territory of the Museum should be notified to our press service at least 48 hours in advance. The Museum may set conditions for such events, taking into account the safety of other visitors.
  • Use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones, quadcopters, etc.) without the permission of the Museum administration.
  • Climb sculptures and military equipment on the Museum territory. Walking on the slopes and lawns within the Museum’s territory.
  • The Museum reserves the right to change these terms and conditions without prior notice.
